The information we collect through this website
When you complete our enquiry form, we collect the details you give us, such as your name, telephone number, email address, your preferred way of being contacted, and the information you choose to include about why you are contacting us. We ask you not to include details of your case in the form.
If you contact us by telephone or email, we collect the information you provide in that contact.
If you agree to analytics cookies, we collect limited information about how visitors use the site. See our Cookies policy for details, and to change your choice at any time.
How we use your information and our lawful basis
We use the information you provide to respond to your enquiry, to consider whether we are able to act for you, and, if you become a client, to provide legal services to you. Our lawful bases are our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries and running our practice, the performance of a contract with you, compliance with our legal and regulatory obligations, and, where relevant, your consent (for example, for analytics cookies).
Because of the nature of our work, the information you send us may reveal special category data or information about criminal matters. Where we process this kind of information, we do so as necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims, or on another lawful basis permitted by data protection law.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We use trusted suppliers who process information on our behalf and only on our instructions, including our website host, our enquiry and client management system, and our analytics provider. Where we instruct barristers, experts or other professionals in the course of your matter, or where the law or our regulator requires it, we may share information as described in our Terms and Conditions of Business. We put appropriate agreements in place with our suppliers.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry information only for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards. Where you become a client, we keep your file in line with the retention periods set out in our Terms and Conditions of Business. We then securely delete or destroy it.
Your rights
You have rights over your personal information, including the right to be told how it is used, to access a copy of it, to have it corrected or erased in certain circumstances, to restrict or object to its use, and, where relevant, to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, please contact our Data Protection Officer using the details above.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at www.ico.org.uk. We would ask that you contact us first so we can try to put things right.
